Cosmetology
|
The Cosmetology program prepares students with the necessary 1,500 hours of theoretical and clinical studies as required for the State Board Examination in Cosmetology. Additional leaning experiences include salon management, computer imaging consultations, as well as theatrical make-up and hair styling. Students in the cosmetology program provide make-up for the carver Theatre Company, Channel 36, and the Baltimore Opera Company.

Program Description
Cosmetology at Carver
The Cosmetology program trains students to become professional Stylists, preparing them to pass the Maryland licensing examination. After passing the exam students can continue in the field of Cosmetology.

Course of Study
Freshmen: Freshman learn the basics of makeup artistry, hair coloring, and nail technology. You may even team up with chemists to develop or market your own product line.
Sophomores: Sophomores learn all of the basics of hair, skin, and nails except chemicals.
Juniors: Juniors start chemical work, permanent waving, chemical hair relaxing, coloring, etc….
Seniors not on Carver Work Experience: Seniors work and operate the salon to test their expertise.
