Dance

The goals of the Carver Dance Department are to teach the techniques and concepts that will help students to think and work effectively and creatively and to teach values that will help define a students's aesthetic philosophy. The course of study aims at helping students develop good working habits, develop a sense of responsibility, and understand commitment.

Program Description

Throughout the four years of the study at Carver, the dance student will take ballet and modern dance classes on a daily basis. To enhance the students' understanding and to develop knowledge of the art form, students are required to take Composition I, Motif Description and Labanotation, and Dance history. A student passing through the Carver Dance program will be fully prepared for college and be prepared for a professional life as a dancer.
