Maryland Pro-Start Invitational – Management Competition

Participating teams demonstrate their knowledge of the restaurant and foodservice industry by developing a business proposal for a new restaurant concept.  The business proposal consists of a defined restaurant concept, supporting menu, and supporting marketing plan.  Teams prepares a comprehensive written proposal, verbal presentation and visual display that describes in detail their concept.  The team members then make a presentation to a panel of judges who will act as potential investors in their new concept. Teams are also tested on their critical thinking skills by reacting to potential management challenges related to their concept.  Their performance during the event is observed and rated by judges from the foodservice industry and colleges and universities.  Participating teams demonstrate their ability to work together while developing their business proposal. Each student on the top three teams is awarded medals and scholarships to pursue their hospitality careers.
