Congratulations to the Class of 2021 as they graduate

A Carver Center tradition at Graduation is that we celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating seniors. This year was our 26th graduation, our 28th year in existence, and a year in which we celebrated history-making accomplishments. Carver Center’s Class of 2021 has not only maintained Carver Center’s tradition of excellence, they have raised the bar even higher. Let me tell you about these outstanding young people.
 
Members of this class include:

  • 2 National Merit Scholarship Finalist
  • 2 National Merit Semifinalists
  • 5 National Merit Commended students     
  • 13 Governor’s Merit Scholastic Award winners
  • 18 Seal of Biliteracy recipients
  • 3 Young Arts Merit Award
  • 12 Advanced Placement Scholars
  • 13 Advanced Placement Scholars with Honor
  • 20 Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction
  • 1 National AP Scholar
  • 1 AP International Diploma
  • 4 Gold Medals in the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards
  • 2 Silver Medals in the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards
  • 24 Gold Keys in the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards
  • 35 Silver Keys in the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards
  • 71 Honorable Mentions in the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards
  • Members of this class have received NCER Core Certification, OSHA 10 Certifications, Serve Safe Certification, ProStart Certification, and Maryland State Cosmetology Board certification
  • All in the top 10% of the class had a GPA of 3.78/5.50 (QPA) or higher
  • All in the top 5% had a GPA of 3.79/5.63 (QPA) or higher
  • In testament to Carver Center’s mission, 97% will continue their educations at 2- or 4-year college and universities
  • Another 2% will enter the workforce
  • 1% are entering military service
  • They have been awarded over $32,839,697 in scholarships, awards, and grants

 
To look at this class, you see what it is all about. And you see it visually as they wear some of the recognitions they have received - the medals, the cords, and the pins - that reflect the hard work, dedication, and commitment to doing that which they are passionate about at Carver Center. They haven’t just maintained a tradition of excellence; they’ve defined it. This is Carver Center’s Class of 2021.
